Profound AI Hackathon Application
Matthew Schapiro — Marketing Engineer
Marketing systems
at inhuman scale
Enterprise SEO/GEO is my foundation. Now I use agents, automation, and rapid prototyping to turn messy workflows into systems that ship.
Why I'm a Fit
A marketer with a builder's workflow.
I'm a technical marketer who has moved deeply into builder workflows, AI tools, and product prototyping. I understand both the marketing problem and the workflow needed to solve it - and I can build the solution myself.
Find the problem
Identify high-leverage marketing workflows
I start by finding the processes where the most time, money, and energy are being wasted - the spreadsheet that should be a dashboard, the manual task that should be automated.
Map the system
Translate chaos into a structured workflow
Before building anything, I map the inputs, decision points, outputs, and failure modes. Most marketing processes fail because nobody has ever drawn the actual workflow.
Design the solution
Product thinking applied to marketing problems
I translate messy marketing workflows into product requirements - who it serves, what it needs, what it produces, and how the experience should work.
Build and ship
Prototype with AI tools, then operationalize
I use v0, Vercel, Supabase, Claude, and custom agent workflows to move from concept to working product. The goal is always something usable, not just a deck.
How I Got Here
My path to marketing engineering
Before I was building AI agents and prototype workflows, I was building the foundation that makes marketing automation useful: search strategy, analytics, content systems, web infrastructure, and cross-functional digital operations.

Early Web Builder
Websites, positioning, tracking, execution
I started as a hands-on digital builder - creating websites, shaping messaging, setting up analytics, working across SEO, paid media, conversion tracking, and practical marketing execution. Way before today's AI tools, I was operating like a one-person agency: strategy, copy, web, tracking, optimization, and iteration.
College dropout, full send - build the site, shape the message, track the work, and learn in public.

The Command Center
My AI Operating Model
I don't think about agents as one-off chatbots. I think about them as an operating system.

Spreadsheet Killer
Spreadsheets were never meant to be business operating systems. But that's what they've become: requests, expenses, status trackers, content calendars, lead lists, approvals, and reporting systems all duct-taped together in rows and columns.
The problem is not that spreadsheets are bad. The problem is that teams are using them as invisible software - without the UX, automation, permissions, workflows, or intelligence that real software should have.
The Problem
The spreadsheet becomes everything
Teams use one Google Sheet to manage intake, approvals, tracking, and reporting - simultaneously.
Ownership breaks down
No clear inputs, inconsistent formats, manual follow-ups, and no audit trail.
Process debt compounds
The spreadsheet gets bigger, more fragile, and harder to hand off. Nothing scales.
The Solution
Upload
Drop in the spreadsheet
Analyze
AI reads columns, patterns, and implied workflow
Clarify
Smart follow-up questions about intent and ownership
Generate
Intake form, structured database, status tracker, workflow steps
Operationalize
A lightweight internal tool - not a spreadsheet

Generate

Operationalize
A lightweight internal tool - not a spreadsheet
The output is not another spreadsheet. It's a lightweight internal operating system for that specific process - with structured data, clear ownership, and no manual glue holding it together.
YOUR MOVE
This is how I think.
This is how I build.
This site is proof-of-work: a custom artifact showing how I approach marketing engineering, what kind of system I would build at the hackathon, and how I already work this way.
